I'm very excited to offer for your consideration this super funky RESTORED 1950's atomic hallway fixture by Virden! This fixture wholly embodies mid 50's style, an era of wild modernity. It's playful, yet, elegant.
I was able to identify this neat little guy in my archive of original lighting catalogs, spotted in the 1956 Virden catalog. The finish on this fixture is entirely untouched, and I have only gently cleaned it, leaving the nicely mottled, multi hue rainbow patina.
For not having been polished, it still retains a very high sheen. I love how the perforations in the shade throw light onto the ceiling. The white painted finish on its inside is also original, and in good vintage condition, with only very minor wear and scuffing. The metal components of this piece are free of notable flaws, age appropriate wear excluded.
The mounting buttons and bar are original. The glass bottom shade is original, and there are no chips or losses to speak much of. If you've been looking for something FUN for your mid century home, this fixture might just be the one!
This scale of this fixture is ideal for just about any smaller sized room, perhaps a closet, powder room, or hallway, measuring about 7 inches long and 7 inches wide. The canopy is 5 inches in diameter and will more than amply cover a modern junction box. While the original porcelain socket has been retained, it has been newly rewired and is ready to hang, including all the necessary hardware. Light bulbs are not included.
