1950s Gerald Thurston Lightolier Mid Century Modern Walnut/Brass Drum Shade Lamp. This 1950's Gerald Thurston tall table lamp has a slender body of brass with walnut wood on a black enamel base with original linen drum shade. The iconic and coved design was part of the Lightolier's 1950's premier "profile" product line. The cream linen outer shade is clean, however the inside does have stains (see photos). There is also some wear to the outer shade in the back, see photos.
This shade also has a texture and light DOES NOT REALLY shine through it. Not sure if that's on purpose or because of old age. Light shines through the upper and bottom diffuser/reflector, as shown in the photos. There is a knob on the bottom reflector that has 3 settings and turns the light on/off.
The lamp DOES WORK FINE, however there is TAPE ON THE CORD - see photos. The original enameled metal diffuser and inner plastic shade reflector are in tact and show few signs of use.The plastic reflector has some age yellowing. The brass body elements have some light pitting consistent with age. The walnut teak stained wood center rod is in very good condition and as-is the black enamel base which does have some white paint speckles on from the original owner that I have not tried getting off. Also some minimal wear to the outer edges of the base, but very hard to see. This lamp is so beautiful, I can't believe it's still around after all this time.
