This is an Incredible and Out-Of-This-World Vintage Mid Century Outerspace Astronaut Science Fiction Oil Painting on Artist Board, depicting a fantastic and surreal retro Science Fiction scene of two NASA astronauts standing in a desolate alien desert. Large otherworldly glowing orbs hover above the sky in front of the spacemen, while tall and unusual alien vegetation crops up out of the barren soil. On the horizon, a very large planet can be seen in the distance, possibly a moon. This artwork looks like it's straight off of the cover of Isaac Asimov or Ray Bradbury 5c paperback from the Space Race era. " Cox" at the lower edge. I could not find any information on this artist, but I suspect they were a cover illustrator for pulp Science Fiction novels from the 1950's - 1960's. Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original period teakwood frame. Acquired in Los Angeles County, California.
